Biology

Teaching focuses on examination success. This is achieved through the acquisition of knowledge, examination technique and thinking skills. The teachers are experts in their respective fields; they teach their students the information they need in the form that they need it.

Biology

The biology course attracts a broad cohort of students including those who wish to study healthcare disciplines at university but also those with ambitions in other areas such as psychology and the world of business.

The course addresses both the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline through a range of approaches including laboratory work and external visits alongside more traditional classroom sessions. Students are encouraged to ask questions, test out their own ideas via discussions and engage with the subject material as fully as possible.

A-level Biology enables students to demonstrate and extend a range of skills including the ability design and plan experimental work and the critical interpretation of data. It is a popular, respected subject with much to offer the student who wants to better understand living organisms and the world around them.
